The WBS Editor is able to check a couple of things which can help to keep a WBS tidy and following the rules. On nodes with found defects, the WBS Editor will display an exclamation mark (if Plausibilites are enabled, see Preferences dialog), and a description of the found problem is stated in the status bar.

There are two different categories of plausibilities:
  • Structural problems: Problems which violate the rules of work breakdown structures, e.g. an inner node does only have a single child (eliminate parent)
  • Content problems/publishing problems: Problems with remaining work and/or status of work items, e.g. a closed work item still has remaining work, or a work item without remaining work has not been closed.
